Honey’s colour and taste may vary with each small batch we gather, as the producers of the honey (aka the Bees) are free to fly and collect nectar from different fruits and flowers in the forest.
We have taken great care in sourcing our bottles and cap, to ensure that it provides the most airtight and leak-less experience. However, we still recommend you to store it upright and do not shake too much (or it will pop like a champagne when you eventually open thanks to the active enzymes). Slowly turn open the cap and immediately pour out into your cup, to avoid overflow.
Oh, one more thing…the very first time you open your bottle, you would have probably heard /felt a ‘click’, and when re-closing the cap, you will notice the cap doesn’t fully close evenly (don’t worry, its still airtight and leak-proof). This is an intentional design, to ensure you know that your precious bottle of honey is brand new.
Technically, honey does not have an expiry date, but it can still undergo natural changes. The National Honey Board (in the USA) says that over time honey may “darken and lose its aroma and flavor or crystallize”. That alone is proof that honey is real and raw (not processed). However, once open, we recommend to consume within 2 years for the best taste experience. To maintain the honey’s freshness for longer, please do keep refrigerated in an upright position. This also helps lock in its aromatic flavours.
Each bottle comes with a batch certificate of authenticity of content, from Malaysia Genome Institute (Part of the National Institute of Biotechnology Malaysia). Please check the batch number printed in the MGI certificate matches with batch number on the label of your bottle of Darlings.
